Street. GEORGE – Two people were arrested in Santa Clara last week after police said they were found with packages reportedly taken from the front porch of two homes nearby.
One concern is that the incident occurred less than a month before the holiday season began, which authorities say is when the “balcony pirates” come out in full force as packages begin to disappear across southern Utah.
A Santa Clara Ivins Police Patrol officer noticed two people dressed in all-black riding a bicycle with an overloaded basket shortly before 5 a.m.
Suspiciously, the officer stopped and spoke to the suspects — Cassandra Gutierrez, 23, and Kelly Irene Lopez, 18, according to indictment documents filed with the court. The officer noticed two packages in the basket belonging to a dwelling on the road.
