Air Serbia is expected to soon announce the launch of new routes that will be added to the network for the 2022/23 winter season. It comes after adding several new destinations. Earlier this week, the carrier began its services to Malta, marking its return to the island after three years. Air Serbia also scheduled a limited holiday service between Belgrade and Pula in late December and early January, while it began selling tickets for its second long-haul flight, to Tianjin, yesterday. These flights will be the first time that Air Serbia has maintained services to China since 2000. In addition, the company will operate new holiday flights between Nisch and Zurich, which can be extended if the route proves successful.
The carrier has focused more on launching popular holiday destinations, as there is greater demand for leisure travel in the recent days of the coronavirus pandemic. New lines to Spain and Italy have done well this summer and will be increased later next year, with services between Belgrade and Barcelona more than doubling from four to nine times a week in 2023. Additional frequency growth on other routes is expected to be revealed Unveil it in the coming weeks. Mr. Marek recently noted: “We will continue to work on expanding our destination network primarily to include tourism destinations, which have proven to be a complete success this year.”
Air Serbia handled more than 2.3 million passengers during the January-October period, receiving more than 250,000 passengers last month alone. In October, the airline operated 2,815 flights, down slightly from pre-pandemic levels for 2019 when it was 2,907. During the month, the number of passengers on charter flights increased by 97.6% than it was three years ago. Our results in 2022 show that passengers enjoy flying with us. In the first ten months of the year, we carried more than two million passengers, nearly a million more passengers than the same period last year. We plan to boost our fleet and launch new routes in the upcoming winter season, to provide our passengers with greater comfort and better connectivity, said Bosko Rubic, General Manager Commercial and Strategic Affairs at Air Serbia.
