Anonymous Theatre Announces Its First-Ever Holiday Show, “Fezziwig’s Fortune”


Anonymous Theater, the top-secret company that hides the cast of its shows until opening night, has announced its first-ever show: Physwig’s fortunethe world premiere of the play by local stars Josie Syed and Sarah Jean Aquardi.

Physwig’s fortuneFeatured at the Fertile Land Festival of New Works in 2021, it is an entirely unique play. Fezziwig, a playful supporting character in Charles Dickens Christmas carol Here he becomes the protagonist, as Sid and Accord reveal a wealth of pain behind his delightful facade.

The play will be shown Monday, December 19, at the Patricia Reaser Center for the Arts in Beaverton. The acting isn’t finished, so if you’d like to audition, you can find more information on the Anonymous website.

Founded in 2002 by Darius Pierce, Kerry Ryan, Sam Kusnetz and Rebecca Curtiss, Anonymous is so good at hiding the identities of its actors that at every performance, theater goers are surprised every time a new actor stands in the audience and walks on stage.

What’s even more impressive is that the actors never know who they’ll be performing with. It takes a great deal of skill to play up against an unknown group (to you), but the staff of Anonymous’ latest production of idea (which featured a character from Portland theater greats, including John San Nicholas and Ashley Song) he managed to pull it off brilliantly.
