Looking at the side lift, the Maharashtra government has declared a public holiday for Andheri East Assembly Constituency on November 3, an official said.
In an official statement, the local election official said on Saturday that the holiday will apply to central and state government offices, semi-government offices, public institutions, banks and others.
The statement stated that the holiday will also apply to voters who work outside the boundaries of the council’s constituency.
“… to increase the percentage of voting in this by-election, a widespread public awareness is being created,” said Mumbai Suburb District Collector and Election Officer Nidhi Chaudhary while pleading with citizens to vote in large numbers.
This will be the first by-election after the collapse of the government led by Udehav.
It was necessary to create a bypoll after the sudden death of Shiv Sena MLA Ramesh Latki in May this year.
