Classes on travel, haunted destinations, technical theater offered in Pequot Lakes – Pine and Lakes Echo Journal


Pequot Lakes – Pequot Lakes Community Education offers the following classes. Register online at isd186.org under Community Education or call 218-568-9200.

  • Travel show: 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, at the Pequot Lakes High School Media Center. Fee: Free

Advanced registration is required.

This free informative presentation will provide information on professionally managed and guided excursions through Premier World Discovery. Featured destinations include Hawaii, Cape Cod, Italy, and Washington, DC. Attending this event is not required to attend any flights.

  • Haunted Anoka: 7-8 p.m. Monday, October 24 online. Fee: $15.

Educator Jon-Jossier Anderson will use a PowerPoint presentation to guide a virtual journey through “Forgotten Anoka” to hear stories about people who lived there before, and may still be. This event will feature the Jackson Hotel, now Billy’s, the Old Post Office and Colonial Hall.

  • Technical Theater Certificate (ages 12 and above): 6:30 – 9 p.m. Thursday, October 27 and November 3; 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, November 15 and 17, in the auditorium of Pecot Lakes High School. Cost: $89.

Learn the skills needed to operate a theater, including fixtures, lighting, and sound systems. The class includes practical hands-on work that results in a theater technical certification to operate Pequot Lakes theater equipment once you have worked on a formal show.
