Disney Cruise Line debuts name of new ship, adds new destinations

Anaheim, California. Just two months after Disney Wish debuted, Disney Cruise Line has officially revealed the name of its sixth ship.

The Disney Treasure will join the Disney Cruise Line fleet in 2024, and will be filled with Walt Disney’s love of lifelong exploration. During the Expo show at D23 titled “A Future Without Borders: Disney Parks, Experiences & Products,” Josh Damaro, Chairman of the Board of Disney Parks, Experiences & Products, gave fans a first look.

“For our sixth ship, we’re dreaming of an entirely new design concept unlike anything Disney Cruise Line has done before,” said D’Amaro. “The Great Hall is inspired by the greatest mystery of a gilded palace. It draws on real-world influences from Asia and Africa, as well as the distant land of Agrabah.”

The ship’s grand hall features a beautiful statue featuring Aladdin, Jasmine and the magic carpet soaring together in a whole new world of adventures.

As Disney Cruise Line fans eagerly await the arrival of the new ship, Disney Cruise Line delves into a world beneath. From October 2023, the fleet’s ship, The Disney Wonder, will begin carrying passengers in Australia and New Zealand.

“The ship here is the destination on these cruises that invite guests from this region to stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars, and we are very pleased to offer something new to those who have never experienced this kind of Disney magic before,” Damaro explained. Now, I’m obviously also excited to share that the Disney Wonder repositioning trips will be our first in the South Pacific – giving you the opportunity to experience destinations like Fiji and Samoa.”

In 2019, Disney shared the first details about Disney Wish and its second destination in the Bahamas, Lighthouse Point. During Sunday’s presentation, Disney leaders said progress continues on the beautiful new island that will bring the natural beauty and rich culture of the Bahamas to Disney Cruise Line guests.

“We’re still in the early stages, but I can say this is going to be a great location for Disney Cruise Line,” D’Amaro said. “We are excited to create a place where you can learn about the stories and traditions handed down by generations of Eleuthera residents. We know how much our guests love Castaway Cay, so we can’t wait for all of you to put your toes in the sand at this new island destination.”

Disney Cruise Line is building three new cruise ships that all started with Disney Wish. Each one of them showcases immersive family entertainment, enchanting storytelling and the unparalleled service that only Disney can provide.
