Downtown Chicago Christkindlmarket Begins Holiday Setup – NBC Chicago

It’s starting to look a lot like the Christkindlmarket season in Chicago.

A setting for a traditional German-style holiday market was spotted on Friday at Daley Plaza, one of three Christkindlmarket locations in the Chicago area this year.

Organizers announced that the market, which was dubbed the largest Christmas market in the country last year, reopened at Daly Plaza and at Gallagher Way in Riggleville on November 18. For the first time, Christkindlmarket will also be residing at RiverEdge Park in Aurora, which also opens November 18.

An age-old winter tradition, the free holiday market offers visitors the chance to buy handmade goods and sample international foods while listening to the festive tunes.

“The unique shopping experience, delightful live entertainment and authentic food and drinks such as wine imported from Germany, called Glühwein, make Christkindlmarket a popular and favourite,” the organizers said.

Sites at RiverEdge Park and Daley Plaza conclude on Christmas Eve, while the market on Gallagher Way lasts a little longer. Her last day is New Year’s Eve.

Opening hours for each location are below:
