Holiday warning issued as popular sun destinations hit with snow

A warning has been issued for holiday-goers as a number of sunny destinations experience freezing temperatures.

Holiday hotspots in Spain I got hit Snow and temperatures below zero.

Snow covered the streets of Malaga and the beaches of Ibiza, and Mallorca was hit by an unusual cold snap.

The Spanish Meteorological Office reported that the weather conditions were caused by the “polar freeze” affecting the country.

Last night’s temperatures in Sant Joan de la Bretja reached -2, with more snow expected in the affected areas tonight.

Meteorologist Alberto Dardier shared photos of the snowy conditions.

Puig Major, the highest peak on the Spanish island of Majorca, can be seen covered in 40 cm of snow.

Spanish meteorologists warn Emmett: “Rainfall today in the Balearic Islands, snowfall above 850m (until 8 am) Mallorca: 2 Capdepera Lighthouse, 1 Escorca, Son Torrela 1 Colonia de Sant Pere.”
