The Kaua’i Food Bank wants to make the holidays brighter – and table-filling – for people in need.
The Kaua’i Independent Food Bank’s holiday food drive will run from November 1 to December. 31- Cash donations and donations of perishable and non-perishable food can be delivered at any county fire station and at the depot of the Neuilwele Food Bank.
The food bank hopes to raise $50,000 and 50,000 pounds of food to help those struggling to make ends meet, wondering where their next meal will come from.
The most needed nutrients include:
- Rice and grains in bags and containers heating/serving.
- Pasta and pasta sauce.
- Proteins and seed/nut butter.
- Soups and stews are low in sodium.
- Low-sodium fruits and vegetables in water or 100% juice.
- Hot and cold cereal.
- Shelf-stable milk supplement.
The Food Drive Kit is available on the Kaua’i Independent Food Bank website.
“You have the power to make a difference,” said a press release from the food bank. “Please join the Kaua’i Independent Food Bank to make a difference and help feed the needy on our island by making a donation today.”
Cash and food donations are also accepted anytime from 8am-4pm, seven days a week at the Nāwiliwili Depot.
