FishingBooker, the world’s largest online platform for searching and booking fishing trips, has released its 2023 list of the best ice fishing destinations in Canada – and they include Lake Laberge.
“Lake Laberge has clear, cool waters with a mixture of shallow bays and deep waters,” Fishing Booker said in a statement.
This, in turn, allows visitors to enjoy good fishing even during the colder months. While anglers can fish for the usual Yukon fish species, burbot is particularly good across the ice.”
Fish Booker noted that the ice fishing community at Lake Laberge is diverse.
“You can come across fishing veterans and families with young children. Some anglers dig the hole without making a hut just to see what bites, although some winter enthusiasts like to spend their entire day hunting for fish.
“Many families spend the day at Lake Laberge during the annual Family Ice Fishing Day sponsored by the Yukon Fish and Game Association.”
The top eight ice fishing destinations are Great Slave Lake, NWT; Lake Nipissing, Bay of Quinte, and Lake Erie, Ontario; Tobin Lake, Saskatchewan; Cold Lake, Alberta; Lake of Two Mountains, Quebec; and Lake Logan, British Columbia
