CEBU Mayor Michael Rama clarified that no public funds were used during a week-long “working holiday” with his family in Singapore.
Now Rama is back at City Hall on Monday, November 28, 2022, and during the flag-raising ceremony, the mayor said that “not a single centavo” from the city government’s coffers has been used to pay for their travel to Singapore.
In a report by the Information Office, Rama’s supposed vacation included official activities in line with the vision of a Singapore-like city of Cebu.
“No money from the city government was used during our trip to Singapore… not a single centavo from the city government,” Rama said, in a mixture of English and Cebuano.
The mayor added that he was ready to sacrifice his money to serve the people.
Rama first visited the Philippine Embassy in Singapore where he presented his vision for Cebu City and then met officials from the Singapore Ministry of Commerce and Industry to learn about good practices and regulations that can help the business sector. (IRT)
