
ROCHESTER, Minnesota (KROC-AM News) — Local commemoration of the national Martin Luther King Jr. holiday kicks off Monday morning with the annual “We Have a Dream Breakfast” observance.
The event, sponsored by the Rochester Chapter of the NAACP, the Diversity Council and the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held at the Mayo Civic Center and feature a keynote address by Kevin Lindsay of the Minnesota Humanities Center. Hundreds of community members and leaders are expected to attend and honor the slain civil rights leader.

Breakfast will be followed by the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom March Rally at the Mayo Civic Center at 10:30 a.m. and the Freedom March in downtown Rochester starting at 11:30 a.m. The Rochester Civic Theater will host the Community Peoples Noon, Remembrance and Birthday Celebration program celebrating the life and accomplishments of Martin Luther King Jr. at 1 p.m.
