The US Virgin Islands have been voted Porthole Cruise and Travel MagazineReaders’ Choice Award for Best Caribbean Cruise Destination. The prestigious awards have been a staple in the cruise industry since 1998, with thousands of loyal readers voting for it.
USVI is one of the largest cruise destinations in the Caribbean, and before the pandemic, cruises brought more than $300 million to the local economy. With recovery efforts in full force, USVI expects nearly 1.4 million cruise passengers in 2023. Most cruises now sail at 100 percent occupancy, and a full recovery in the cruise industry is expected in the new year.
The US Virgin Islands recently announced a partnership with the Florida and Caribbean Cruise Consortium (FCCA) that will focus on increasing the destination’s overall economic impact from cruise tourism.
