USA TODAY predicts Las Vegas Bowl after Week 3

Now that Week 3 of college football is on the books, it’s time to look ahead as the country’s top schools may play in the post-season. Among the media that have given their predictions for this year’s bowling all round, USA TODAY Sports player Erick Smith, who posted his predictions after his third full weekend of petanques.

The Florida Gators are relegated to the Las Vegas Bowl against UCLA as Smith forecasts, which is scheduled for December 17 at the site of the same name. The game between the Southeastern Conference and the Pac-12 School follows the bowl game’s affiliations and will mark the second West Coast foe to face this season at Orange and Blue after its first-week win over Utah Utes.

Despite the win over the South Florida Bulls, Smith’s update marks a downward spiral from last week’s expectations, as he expected the Gators to face the Baylor Bears at the Liberty Bowl on December 28. Prior to that, after a surprise victory over Utah, Florida matched Notre Dame Fighting Ireland in the ReliaQuest Bowl on January 2, 2023.

The Gators could form some ground with a road win over the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday, which is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on CBS Sports.
